Job Description
  • Overview:
The Die Cutter Operator is responsible for the precise setup, operation, and maintenance of die-cutting machines used in the production of folding carton packaging. This role ensures that paperboard is accurately cut, creased, stripped, and blanked according to customer specifications, while meeting quality, efficiency, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate die-cutting equipment (e.g., Bobst, Iberica, Heidelberg) to cut and crease folding carton jobs according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret job tickets, CAD layouts, and customer requirements to ensure proper tooling and materials are used.
  • Install and align cutting dies, stripping tools, and blanking units for efficient production.
  • Monitor production runs for quality, ensuring precise registration, clean cuts, and accurate creasing.
  • Troubleshoot machine and tooling issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished cartons to confirm compliance with structural and print requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine adjustments to ensure reliable machine performance.
  • Collaborate with press operators, gluer operators, and production supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and on-time deliveries.
  • Record production data, waste, and downtime accurately.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in printing/packaging preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as a die cutter operator, ideally in folding carton or packaging.
  • Proficiency with flatbed die cutting machines (Bobst experience highly preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments.
  • Knowledge of carton converting processes (cutting, creasing, stripping, blanking).
  • Ability to read and interpret job tickets, CAD drawings, and specifications.
  • High attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment:
  • High-volume folding carton packaging production facility.
  • Exposure to machinery, paperboard dust, inks, and noise.
