Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Building Services Supervisor.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for providing front line supervision to Building Services and Patient Transport and ensures that all of the employees demonstrate competency in understanding and the use of all equipment and supplies utilized throughout their shift. Ensures a clean and sanitary environment in all areas of responsibility throughout the Medical Center. Provides guidance and direction to all lines of Building Services i.e. Patient Transport, and Housekeeping, Provides feedback and /or documentation to mangers. Responsible for monitoring Epic as it pertains to Building Services and Patient Transport operations and ensures appropriate resources are allocated so that tasks, i.e., bed/discharge cleaning, in-between case cleaning and Patient Transport trips can be completed as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations service standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Maintains professional affiliations, attends as approved assigned; outside training, conference, seminars that are applicable to the job responsibilities
  • Participates in the organization and departmental trainings and implementation and monitoring of new programs
  • Monitors and allocates the necessary resources as it pertains to all Epic related programs i.e. discharge/transfer bed cleaning, Patient Transport trips, and OR in between case cleaning.
  • Attends and represents the Building Services and Patient Transport Department at meetings as assigned.
  • Follows proper standard precaution procedures and hand washing protocol as per Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains safety and sanitary standards following infection control protocols in areas of responsibility, covering each assigned area to observe all service line functions with Building Services Department i.e., Patient Transport , Housekeeping to determine compliance with instructions and quality of work. Inspects each area of responsibility to ensure that all safety, health, and sanitation regulations are met in accordance with Federal, City, and State regulations. Ensures that staff follow proper policies and protocol as written in departmental policies and procedures manual.
  • Prepares daily reports and informs his or her Supervisor of concerns impacting the quality and safety of the operations. Reports daily activities and incidents for all employees under his/her supervision. Composes related and required in a neat and well written manner utilizing department forms whenever applicable.
  • Participates in cost control activities by seeking the most effective method of delivering services and maintains awareness of the cost impact of decisions and actions. Evaluates practices and identifies areas of excessive supply usage and misuse of equipment which could lead to high costs. Arrange work to reduce or avoid overtime. Uses supplies efficiently. Uses equipment efficiently and ensures that equipment is in good working condition, cleaned and stored in assigned area upon completion of duties.
  • Participates in developing, planning and implementing new programs, including the development of related procedures /processes. Communicates the need for new policies and procedures to their senior leadership in a timely manner. Submits reports/plans, which are requested by Supervisors, on time. Develops short and long range plans for the accomplishment of goals; addresses all contingencies in a plan, communicates the reason for a delay in accomplishing a plan to their Supervisor within a reasonable time. Utilizes audit result, quality assurance reports and accident reports to improve the quality of service.
  • Develops and encourages a program of staff development. Plans the training of staff and development in advance of implementation. Trains staff members effectively and maintains detailed records of performance and training status. Ensures that policies and procedures are followed and that staff awareness to said policies are understood and being implemented.
  • Evaluates and documents staff performance, records, and reports personnel absences, and performs personnel counseling. Recognizes the need to counsel subordinates and performs counseling in a timely fashion. Explains to the employee clearly what his/her responsibilities are and standards of performance. Offers guidance for improving performance to the employee. Issues corrective action, when necessary, in accordance Human Resources policies and procedures and the collective Bargaining Agreement. Brings to the employees attention areas of performance improvement as soon as they are recognized with a plan of action and a time frame for correction. Approaches the performance review process constructively and conducts it in accordance with personnel and departmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Establishes daily assignment schedules for all employees under his/her supervision and monitors their work. Defines the expected outcome and time of completion of daily duties to the employees. Cleary communicates the objective of the assignment to the employee. Institutes appropriate follow-up with the employee to ensure that the desired outcome is reached. Assigns work in order to accomplish goals in a timely fashion and makes allowances for individual initiative. Solicits feedback from the employee to ensure the employment is understood. Allocates resources appropriately so that the task can be accomplished. Informs the employees of their assignment upon reporting to work or in advance. Conducts patient interviews to ascertain quality of service.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in Management or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of experience in related field
Experience with Data Analysis
