Job description

Citywide Janitorial - Charlotte, NC

Citywide Janitorial is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee janitorial operations at a large commercial facility in the Charlotte area. This is a key leadership position responsible for the overall performance of the account, including staffing, service quality, client satisfaction, employee performance, inspections, scheduling, supplies, safety, and day-to-day operational execution.
We are specifically seeking a candidate who has previous janitorial management experience in a large commercial facility and experience directly managing a team of at least 20 employees. This is not an entry-level management position.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily janitorial operations for a large commercial facility.
  • Manage, coach, develop, and hold accountable a team of 20+ janitorial employees, leads, and supervisors.
  • Ensure all contracted cleaning specifications and client expectations are consistently met.
  • Conduct routine quality-control inspections throughout the facility and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  • Manage employee schedules, call-outs, coverage, attendance, overtime, and staffing levels.
  • Monitor employee productivity and ensure labor is being utilized efficiently.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the client and serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day janitorial operations.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client requests, concerns, and service issues.
  • Identify potential service problems before they escalate and implement corrective action.
  • Conduct employee coaching, training, performance discussions, and disciplinary documentation when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding staffing needs, employee relations, and performance concerns.
  • Monitor janitorial supplies, equipment, inventory, and usage.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
  • Ensure employees comply with company safety procedures, PPE requirements, security protocols, and facility-specific policies.
  • Oversee specialty and periodic cleaning services, including hard-floor care, carpet cleaning, deep cleaning, and other scheduled projects.
  • Complete required inspections, reports, documentation, and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
  • Communicate regularly with Citywide Janitorial leadership regarding account performance, staffing, client satisfaction, and operational needs.

Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of janitorial management or commercial cleaning management experience.
  • Previous management experience within a large commercial, corporate, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or similar facility.
  • Demonstrated experience directly managing a team of at least 20 employees.
  • Experience managing multiple shifts, supervisors, or team leads.
  • Strong understanding of commercial cleaning standards, procedures, chemicals, equipment, and quality-control practices.
  • Experience with employee scheduling, attendance management, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong client-service and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to recognize cleaning deficiencies and implement corrective action.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable using email, Microsoft Office, mobile applications, inspection systems, and other workplace technology.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation required, and must be able to pass a background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing janitorial operations in a corporate environment.
  • Experience managing teams of 20 or more employees.
  • Experience with floor-care programs, including VCT, carpet, hard-surface flooring, stripping and refinishing, and machine operation.
  • Experience working within highly structured facilities with established compliance requirements.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful Account Manager will be highly visible within the facility and actively engaged with both the client and employees. We are looking for someone who understands that managing a large janitorial operation requires more than assigning tasks.
This individual should know their facility, understand their staffing, regularly inspect the work, develop their employees, communicate professionally with the client, and address issues before they become complaints.
The right candidate will be a strong leader who takes ownership of the account and is comfortable being held accountable for its overall performance.
