Role Description:

This is a remote Freight Broker Contractor role which is commission based. The Freight Broker will source and secure freight from customers, match loads with qualified carriers, and negotiate rates to ensure profitable, on-time movements. Daily responsibilities include managing a load board, tracking shipments, resolving service issues, and maintaining clear communication with shippers, carriers, and internal teams. The role involves building and managing accounts, updating transportation management systems, and ensuring accurate documentation for each shipment. The Freight Broker is also expected to develop new business opportunities, maintain strong carrier relationships, and support continuous improvement in service and efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • Strong Freight Brokerage and sales skills, including sourcing loads, negotiating rates, and managing margins, with an existing book of business of companies they have a working relationship with.
  • Customer Service and Account Management skills to build, retain, and grow shipper relationships.
  • Dispatching experience, including coordinating pick-ups and deliveries, and tracking and tracing loads.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), load boards, and standard freight documentation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders under time pressure.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, solve problems quickly, and make decisions in a fast-paced logistics environment.
  • Basic analytical and math skills to assess pricing, margins, and performance metrics.
  • Previous experience in freight brokerage, trucking, or logistics is strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
