Job description

A bread baker at the Fourth Coast's primary role is making artisan bread using great quality ingredients. The bakery serves not only the customers of Fourth Coast Cafe, but also supplies the bread for the restaurant, Crow's Nest. Each bread baker is expected to replicate our recipes consistently to produce the product that our customers have grown to expect. The expertise of our bakers is relied upon as to assist in curating new products to our list of offerings.

Skills

Ability to accurately follow weights, measurements, and cook times for recipes

Knowledge in how to safely operate food service equipment such as a food scale, stand mixer, industrial oven, and bread slicer

Experience in mixing and proofing, folding and shaping dough by hand, and scoring and baking bread

Knowledge of the science of sourdough and other artisan breads, and how to properly troubleshoot recipes

Strong communication skills with a willingness to communicate amongst a team

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, squat, bend over, and move quickly

Knowledge in proper food handling guidelines

Being a team player and maintaining a positive attitude

Responsibilities

Mixing, kneading, baking, and preparing a variety of artisan breads

Completing daily par counts on bread needs

Ensuring that all items baked during your shift meet the standards of the bakery

Washing and putting away all items used while working each day

Measure and weigh ingredients accurately

Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen

Communicating any ingredient needs to ensure that the bakery is adequately supplied

Properly labeling and arranging bread on display for sale in the cafe

Must be available to work evening shifts
