We are currently hiring for a Book Processor. This position is a full-time non-exempt role in our warehouse located in McHenry, IL. The pay for this position is $16.56 per hour and production bonus eligible. based on your performance. Position Overview: Our goal at Follett Content Solutions is to empower librarians, teachers, school leaders, and administrators. We partner with educators and provide the tools they need quickly and reliably, with dedicated representatives helping every step of the way. With industry-leading turnaround times, best-in-class collection development and self-service tools, an ever-expanding product selection, and cataloging overseen by degreed librarians, we're here to help them maximize their time and budget so they can get back to doing what's most important. They can expect their fully shelf-ready processed order to arrive at their institution ready to go from box to shelf - tagged, barcoded, and suitable for immediate circulation. The Follett Content Book Processing Team is composed of more than 120 active processors with a collective total of more than 1,000 years of experience. On average, each of them produces a fully processed library book every 60 seconds! Getting books shelf-ready is no quick task, but this is precisely where our team excels. Book Processors are a critical role in our business and performs duties to label, fix, reinforce, and protect product according to instructions while meeting established standards for quality and productivity. Responsibilities:
  • Follow all safety regulations and report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor. Maintain assigned work area and equipment such as tape and label dispensers, scissors, "X-Acto"-type knives, rolling shear cutters, adhesive removers, measuring tools, data entry terminals, and scanning devices in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Replace as needed.
  • Pull incoming totes of books down from top line. Accurately enter orders into tracking system, noting any special instructions indicated with orders. Review orders for processing specifications. Refer to proper instructions for clarification of procedures and quality standards or request information from appropriate supervisors. Inspect product for dirt, damage, or other defects. Clean, repair, or replace product as necessary. Correctly match and label product according to instructions and processing procedures. Reinforce product using protective covering as directed. Install theft detection devices to product.
  • Rework or repair product returned by Quality Assurance or the customer or as directed by management in an orderly and prompt manner. Place and record defective product in rejection area.
  • Move totes to holding line as needed to wait for replacement books or supplies. Complete proper documentation for orders not completed. Complete orders left unfinished by other personnel.
  • Perform work in other departments as directed. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to have attention to detail
  • Ability to read a ruler
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Mandatory over-time as needed
  • Ability to work in other departments when the need arises
