Job description

As a Boiler Mechanic you'll spend your time on stick and TIG welding, with the rest split across mechanical systems, piping, pump work, heat exchanger installs, and full pressure vessel repair โ€” real variety, real responsibilityย across a diverse book of industrial and commercial customers.
Responsibilities
Welding (~30% of time)
  • Perform STICย and TIG weldingย pipe, fittings, flanges, and pressure vessel components following approved welding code procedures.
  • Execute fixed-position 6G pipe welds to code; maintain weld quality and documentation standards required for ASME pressure vessel work.
  • Fabricate and weld custom brackets, supports, and structural components as required during installation and repair projects.
  • Use torch proficiently for cutting, heating, and fitting preparation
Heat exchangers & pressure vessels
  • Install, replace, and maintain heat exchangers; perform tube rolling, bundle removal and re-installation, and shell inspection.
  • Perform full pressure vessel repairs including shell patch welding, nozzle replacement, refractory removal and replacement, and re-certification support.

Preventive maintenance

  • Open, inspect, and close boilers and pressure vessels per PM schedule; document findings and condition of internal components with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Re-gasket flanges, manholes, handholes, and access covers using correct gasket materials and torque specifications.
  • Perform burner service and safety-valve testing as part of scheduled PM visits.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including lubrication, hardware replacement, and minor repairs to keep equipment in reliable operating condition.

Mechanical work & piping

  • Install, repair, and replace piping systems; perform pipe threading, fitting, and layout from blueprints andย drawings.
  • Install, align, and service pumps and associated mechanical equipment; perform packing, seal, and coupling replacements.
  • Size pipe, valves, and system components to meet design specifications.
  • Perform minor rigging during equipment installation โ€” including lifting, positioning, and securing boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, and vessels using appropriate rigging hardware and practices.
  • Complete work orders, daily activity reports, and as-built documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Work overtime and weekends as necessary; respond to emergency service calls.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Service Manager.
Physical requirements

Must be physically fit and able to: work with hands above the head for extended periods; carry a 50 lb pail 50 feet without difficulty; climb and descend ladders; and bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods. Work takes place in industrial and mechanical room environments including confined spaces and extreme temperatures. PPE including welding gear, respirator, and fall-arrest harness is required.
