Pay Range: $39.70 - $44.81 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The BMET III will demonstrate confidence in using test equipment to diagnose and service medical equipment. He/she will ensure all medical equipment meets manufacture specifications and is safe for patient care. The BMET III will assist clinical staff in the use of medical equipment, document all work performed and participate in the Biomedical Engineering emergency on-call program.  He/she will report to the Biomedical Engineering Manager, Regional Manager or Mobile Service Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum AAS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent work/military experience in Biomedical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience
  • Advance knowledge of biomedical/electronic test equipment
  • Knows principles and function of electricity/electronics
  • Knows how to use MS Office and other computer applications
  • Knows various types of medical equipment and medical terminology
  • Holds technical service certification from at least one medical device manufacture
  • Eligible for AAMI/ICC certification
  • Imaging or Anesthesia service training/hands on experience preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred

  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively collaborates with Biomedical Manager and others to investigate and resolve reported unsafe conditions taking action where necessary to correct them.
  • Inspects new medical devices equipment, and participates in installations ensuring compliance with existing safety codes and standards.
  • Learns about the function/performance of new medical devices with speed & comprehension.
  • Secures all required medical device information required for the biomedical equipment database.
  • Shows initiative to secure current service and operator manuals for proper servicing of all types of medical equipment.
  • Provides technical leadership to other biomedical service team members to maintain a high level of competency and continuum of care within his/her specialty group or to the biomedical service team at large (as applicable).
  • Conducts preventive maintenance inspections appropriate to level of job competence using appropriate productivity & quality measures.
  • Validates PM procedures following manufacturer guidelines and departmental risk system.
  • Assists Biomedical Manager in evaluating effectiveness of PM scheduling frequency.
  • Actively participates and/or coordinates with biomedical staff to address scheduled and corrective maintenance service requests.
  • Assists with troubleshooting & repair of medical equipment using established productivity & quality measures Collaborates with other service team members to help determine most cost effective service strategy to follow.
  • Demonstrates the need to maintain an adequate level of parts on hand as applicable, to assist in keeping downtime to an absolute minimum. Timely and accurately documents all service requests and repairs in the biomedical equipment database. Cross trains other staff & encourages follow-up. Assists Biomedical Manager in assigning scheduled and unscheduled service requests.
  • Assists Biomedical Manager address medical equipment recalls/device alerts from manufactures and/or F.D.A.
  • Participates in On Call duties after normal working hours. Must respond to a call within 15 minutes by telephone, and reports to the facility within a maximum of one hour if required to be on site. (Under normal circumstances) Is able to give technical instruction to users over the phone minimizing equipment downtime, while providing for the continuum in patient care, and organizational cost effectiveness.
