To thrive as a Behavior Interventionist, you need a background in psychology or education, an understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and often a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Familiarity with behavior tracking software, data collection tools, and, in some cases, a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification is valuable. What are some common challenges Behavior Interventionists face when working with children with autism, and how are they typically addressed?

Behavior Interventionists often encounter challenges such as managing difficult behaviors, maintaining student engagement, and adapting intervention strategies to each child's unique needs. Consistent communication and data collection help Behavior Interventionists monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed, ensuring effective support for each child.

What are Behavior Interventionists?

They typically implement behavior intervention plans developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) using techniques based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Their work may involve one-on-one sessions, data collection, skill-building activities, and collaboration with families and teachers. Want to help kids with autism? Looking to get some human services experience? Looking for full or part time work? Want to develop a career path? We have great starting wages!

Solutions Behavioral Healthcare Professionals ("Solutions") is a dynamic and thriving organization that provides mental health and human services. We have a state of the art autism program and are proud to offer our clients and families the best care. We are seeking applicants for our Behavior Interventionist positions. You are able to enter this track at a variety of points, and move upwards as your credentials increase.

WHAT DOES THE JOB LOOK LIKE?

This position provides intensive one-to-one and group therapy to children with autism under our Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention program. Children with autism tend to learn in a unique way. For that reason, consistency is highly important. We use a model of intervention that is considered best practice, and closely oversee programming to improve learning efficiencies and achieve outcomes that are important to families. Prior to working independently, extensive training is provided to the staff, with ongoing direct supervision following the development of these skills. We provide training to our staff during their first few months of employment to achieve specialized certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). This position works primarily at Solutions' developmental clinic, though some may occur in-home or other community settings.

Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention is utilized to assist children with autism learn language, cognitive, adaptive behavior, social-emotional, self-care, fine motor, gross motor and communication development. Individual treatment plans are developed and overseen by an assigned specialist. The Behavior Interventionist implements programming and records progress using advanced technology. This allows progress in treatment to be clearly visible.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Solutions is looking for someone who loves working with children! This position has 3 points of eligibility: 1) a college degree in a human service field; 2) currently in college in a human service area; or 3) not in college but has 2 years of experience in a human service field.

We need someone with good "people" skills, someone who is energetic, kind, and patient. An ideal candidate is someone who is willing to learn specialized intervention skills and to grow in their position. They would have the skills to work in a brisk clinic setting. They would strive towards cultural competence. The individual hired for this position must pass a criminal background check.

WHY APPLY?

Solutions is a non-profit organization with a meaningful social mission and a close-knit office. It is an accredited organization that expects quality and best practice. While Solutions is a large mental health clinic, it is also ABA-friendly "turf." It provides natural opportunity for the development of supervision skills, as well as potential growth within the organization. This position is one of several within the office, allowing for great peer support.

We offer competitive wages and a great benefit package, including;

  • Health, Dental and Vision insurance
  • 401k plan with up to 4% match
  • Paid Time Off
  • Life insurance
  • Short and Long Term Disability
  • Accident and Hospital Indemnity insurance

Working in our non-profit agency may qualify employees for forgiveness of federal student loans. We value flexibility and a good work/life balance.
