These skills ensure that performers and crew receive timely, high-quality service, contributing to smooth event operations and client satisfaction.

What are some common challenges faced by backstage catering staff during live events?

Hospitality Sales Manager (Full-Time)
Behind the Scenes Catering | San Diego, CA (On-Site)
Who We Are
For over 30 years, Behind the Scenes Catering & Events has delivered high-impact culinary experiences for corporate clients, private events, major sporting events, concert tours, and global productions. From the PGA Tour to backstage artist catering and Fortune 500 events, we operate at a level where precision, creativity, and adaptability matter.
What truly sets us apart? Flexibility.
In our world, plans change-often. Our team thrives on it. We pivot, problem-solve, and deliver exceptional experiences no matter what comes our way.
If you're someone who moves fast, thinks creatively, and loves the energy of live events and client relationships-you'll fit right in.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a driven, client-focused Sales & Event Manager to join our team immediately. This is a high-impact role for someone who can sell, strategize, and execute-owning the client experience from first inquiry to flawless event delivery.
This is not a sit-back-and-wait role.
This is for someone who wants to build relationships, close deals, and see their work come to life in real time.
What You'll Do
Sales & Client Experience
  • Own the full sales cycle: inquiry proposal close execution
  • Actively generate new business (outbound + inbound leads)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate and private clients
  • Create customized proposals, menus, and event concepts
  • Lead site visits and client meetings with confidence

Event Execution (Where It All Comes Together)
  • Attend key events and serve as the bridge between client and operations
  • Ensure seamless handoff from sales to event team
  • Problem-solve in real time to deliver exceptional guest experiences

High-Profile & Special Projects
  • Support large-scale events (think: major sporting events, large productions, national activations)
  • Collaborate across departments on complex, high-visibility projects
  • Opportunity for bonus compensation tied to project performance

Operations & Admin
  • Manage client data, proposals, and event details in catering software
  • Prepare detailed event documentation for operations teams
  • Participate in weekly production meetings
  • Support team initiatives, training, and process improvements

What You Bring
  • Strong communication skills (written + verbal)
  • Proven ability to close business and manage client relationships
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple events at once
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Self-starter mentality-you take ownership and run with it
  • Ability to think both creatively and operationally

What we offer:
  • Full-time roll with health and dental plans offered
  • 401K with 4% match after first year of employment

Scheduling:
  • In office position 5 days a week
  • Office hours are 9:00am-5:30pm
  • Weekend availability and flexibility to work around event schedules
