Job description

Enterprise Technician

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled IT professional with a strong blend of networking and telecommunications expertise to fill an open Enterprise Technician position. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure and telecom systems across multiple regional sites. Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain enterprise network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points) and telecom equipment (VoIP phones, SIP trunks, PBX systems).

  • Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues, carrier circuit outages, dropped calls, and hardware failures.

  • Network Monitoring: Proactively identify performance bottlenecks, monitor bandwidth utilization, and ensure QoS (Quality of Service) for voice traffic using enterprise tools (e.g., Auvik, Wireshark).

  • Telecom Management: Handle Move, Add, Change, and Delete (MACD) user accounts, extensions, voicemail boxes, and call routing flows within the Avaya PBX platform.

  • Cabling & Physical Layer: Manage structured cabling infrastructure (Cat6, Fiber Optic) within MDF/IDF closets, including patching, labeling, and rack organization.

  • Vendor Coordination: Interface with Internet Service Providers (ISPs), cabling vendors, and telecom carriers to provision new circuits, manage disconnections, and resolve service outages.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date network diagrams, asset inventories, IP address allocations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma, Associate degree in Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).

  • 3–5 years of experience supporting enterprise-level network and telecommunications environments.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Solid understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP, VLANs, Subnetting, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).

  • Experience configuring Cisco, Aruba, or Juniper network hardware.

  • Strong familiarity with VoIP, SIP signaling, H.323, and digital/analog telephony concepts.

  • Experience managing enterprise collaboration suites (e.g., Microsoft Teams Voice, or Avaya).

Preferred Certifications (Not Required):

  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+.

  • Vendor-specific telecom certifications (e.g., Avaya, Mitel).

Soft Skills & Physical Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with non-technical end-users and corporate leadership.

  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency support.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (for racking servers/switches) and work on ladders if required for wireless AP deployment.
