Director, Commercial (Automotive Logistics - FVL)
Location: Irvine,CA
Compensation: $183,000-$238,000 base salary plus eligibility for a 20% performance bonus (subject to compensation study upon candidate selection)
Overview
GLOVIS America, a global third-party logistics provider headquartered in Irvine, California, is seeking a Director, Commercial to lead and expand its Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) business across North America, including automotive and over-dimensional project cargo (H&H equipment). Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this executive leadership role will drive commercial strategy, revenue growth, and executive-level OEM partnerships across the region.
This opportunity is ideal for a senior commercial leader seeking broader ownership, enterprise-level visibility, and the ability to directly influence growth strategy, network expansion, and long-term business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of a disciplined commercial growth strategy aligned with market demand, operational capacity, and infrastructure investment
  • Drive new business acquisition with automotive OEMs while expanding strategic enterprise accounts
  • Build and manage a long-term commercial pipeline aligned with revenue and network growth objectives
  • Establish and maintain executive-level relationships across OEM supply chain, logistics, and procurement organizations
  • Lead complex contract negotiations with a focus on growth, profitability, operational feasibility, and risk management
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, network planning, and infrastructure teams to ensure commercial alignment with execution capabilities
  • Support network expansion initiatives, including terminal development and evaluation of new market opportunities
  • Develop structured pricing strategies tied to operational complexity, service requirements, and cost drivers
  • Strengthen forecasting accuracy, commercial governance, and overall sales effectiveness
  • Monitor industry trends including electrification, production shifts, and logistics network changes to inform strategic direction

Required Experience & Skills
Experience
  • 15-20+ years of experience in automotive logistics, finished vehicle logistics, and transportation network operations
  • Proven success driving commercial growth initiatives and managing large OEM relationships
  • Extensive experience negotiating complex, multi-year logistics and transportation agreements
  • Strong financial acumen including pricing strategy, cost modeling, forecasting, and P&L management
  • Demonstrated leadership experience developing and leading high-performing commercial teams

Core Capabilities
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and strategic partners
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end automotive logistics networks, including port operations, rail, trucking, vehicle processing, and regional distribution
  • Ability to align commercial strategy with operational execution and infrastructure constraints
  • Strong cross-functional leadership across operations, finance, and strategic planning teams

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
