Job description

Summary:
Tucked into the Wasatch Mountains at Canyons Village in Park City, Utah, Hyatt Centric Park City is your ski resort base camp for mountain adventures year-round. In winter, enjoy true ski in/ski out access including the new 10 passenger Sunrise Gondola, steps from the hotel, for faster laps up to Red Pine and beyond. Then unwind in spacious suites, residences, or condo rentals before enjoying après, dining, and Historic Main Street.
The Director of Operations oversees the hotel's Food & Beverage and Rooms divisions, including Escala Provisions Company Restaurant & Bar, The Market, Banquets, Housekeeping, Front Office, Guest Services, and Valet. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is responsible for the efficient and seamless operation of these areas while ensuring compliance with Hyatt Hotels Corporation standards, initiatives, policies, and procedures.
The Director of Operations will lead, train, and coach direct reports; make sound operational decisions; and execute strategies that support Hyatt's purpose and advance the hotel's position as the most preferred hospitality brand in the local market. This individual will champion colleague engagement, anticipate and respond to guest needs, uphold brand standards, champion Project Olympia and maximize hotel revenue and profitability.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Rooms and Food & Beverage divisions.
  • Lead short- and long-term operational planning for Front of House and Heart of House functions.
  • Develop and recommend departmental budgets, goals, and objectives; manage performance within approved plans.
  • Train, coach, and develop direct reports while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and colleague engagement.
  • Quickly analyze operational statistics and apply insights to enhance the guest and colleague experience and strengthen the hotel's market position.
  • Analyze rate variances, monitor reports, and closely track daily house counts to maximize hotel revenue.
  • Coordinate major operational projects, including renovations, capital expenditures, and equipment changes.
  • Support revenue and occupancy forecasting and monitor labor expenses through effective scheduling and schedule approval processes.
  • Ensure Hyatt initiatives, training materials, policies, and procedures are introduced, implemented, and consistently maintained.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and leadership team on all day-to-day operational matters and strategic priorities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive hotel operations experience, including leadership of Rooms and Food & Beverage departments.
  • Previous experience as a Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager, or comparable hotel leadership role; Hyatt or major-brand experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations, brand standards, guest service, budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and revenue optimization.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent financial, analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and high-occupancy periods.
