Position Overview

DAn Solutions is seeking a senior-level VDI Engineer to support the design, engineering, implementation, and sustainment of enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure within a mission-critical DoD environment.

The VDI Engineer will provide technical leadership for virtual desktop solutions, desktop application packaging and deployment technologies, infrastructure optimization, automation, scalability, and lifecycle management.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, test, and troubleshoot enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
  • Engineer and maintain baseline VDI builds to ensure operating systems are upgraded and incorporated into the environment within required lifecycle timelines.
  • Support infrastructure associated with desktop application packaging, virtualization, and deployment technologies.
  • Identify, design, and implement improvements to application virtualization and distribution processes.
  • Automate manual processes and improve the efficiency of virtual desktop provisioning and application delivery.
  • Optimize VDI infrastructure for performance, availability, reliability, and scalability.
  • Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and high-level system architectures to develop technical requirements and specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, infrastructure, and technology.
  • Develop system architecture and detailed system design documentation.
  • Incorporate new technologies, systems, and designs into ongoing enterprise operations.
  • Identify and resolve complex hardware/software integration and infrastructure issues.
  • Support system engineering reviews, integration activities, testing, implementation, and lifecycle management.
  • Evaluate emerging virtualization and desktop technologies and recommend improvements to the enterprise environment.
  • Provide technical direction to engineering teams and coordinate activities across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Work directly with Government stakeholders regarding technical considerations, risks, problems, and proposed solutions.

The PWS has a dedicated Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineering requirement and specifically calls for baseline VDI builds that keep operating systems current, including incorporating an OS upgrade into the environment at least six months before the operating system reaches end-of-life.

Required Experience & Education

Candidates must meet one of the following combinations:

  • High School Diploma + 12 years of relevant experience
  • Associate's Degree + 10 years
  • Bachelor's Degree + 8 years
  • Master's Degree + 6 years
  • PhD + 4 years
Certifications
  • DoD 8570/8140-compliant Information Assurance certification appropriate to the technical environment.
  • Applicable virtualization, operating system, software, or hardware certifications commensurate with the position.

Salary Range Disclaimer: The posted salary range represents the good-faith minimum and maximum compensation DAn Solutions expects to pay for this position. The position may be filled at different Labor Category (LCAT) levels depending on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contract requirements. Final compensation within the posted range will be determined based on the applicable LCAT and factors including education, relevant experience, certifications, and other required qualifications
