Health Information Management
Job Summary
The Health Information Management (HIM) Data Integrity Coordinator ensures the accuracy and integrity of data entered into patients' electronic health records (EHR) and other patient indices across all SMHCS entities. This role is critical in resolving complex record errors, auditing clinical documentation, and managing Health Information Exchange (HIE) functions to support safe, seamless patient care delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Require an associate's degree in health information technology or related field. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Require current Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Associate (RHIA) certification OR must be currently enrolled in an accredited Health Information Management (HIM) program and must successfully pass the certification exam within six (6) months of program completion or as approved by the Director.
- Require a minimum of three (3) years of previous Health Information Management (HIM) operations experience, or three (3) years of health care related experience utilizing electronic health records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer five (5) years of previous HIM, coding, auditing, or related health care experience including chart management, physician notification and suspension, release of information, and customer service.
- Prefer knowledge of Joint Commission, AHCA, and CMS Conditions of Participation.
- Prefer advanced proficiency utilizing MS Office (Word & Excel) applications, as well as the ability to develop statistical reports.
- Prefer demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prefer demonstrated strong organizational & multi-tasking skills with the ability to work independently.
