Summary
Athletic Program Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Athletic Program Manager, develops and implements various programs designed to provide athletic and recreational opportunities to the community. This leadership role must be available to work flexible hours including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and supervises athletic programs, sports leagues, and race events for all ages, aligning with community needs
  • Coordinates communication and field scheduling with athletic staff, participants, recognized youth sports associations. advisory boards, concessionaires, and other related parties to ensure sports facilities are organized for tournaments and other activities
  • Oversee reservations of all athletic fields and facilities
  • Partners with Communications and Marketing Department to develop, implement, and approve promotion of facilities, programs, and events
  • Assists in the supervision of full-time/part-time employees and volunteers for programs and events
  • Recruits, trains employees, and participates in staffing decisions
  • Secures and schedules use of facilities, equipment, personnel, and officials
  • Submits work orders for repairs needing to maintain safety of equipment
  • Oversees inventory and property management
  • Maintains data in City systems, such as RecTrac/WebTrac, OpenGov, Dayforce, EmPerform and Temple Parks and Recreation websites and calendars
  • Oversees the acceptance, reception, and collection of payments
  • Oversees the preparation and processing of purchase orders
  • Submits recommendations that impact the department budget
  • Provides weekly program, activity, and financial reports to Program Manager
  • Provides exceptional customer service and responds to inquiries and requests from citizens
  • Follows city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Combination of education and/or experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in Recreation Administration or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience of developing and implementing athletics programs, activities and managing multiple athletic facilities or related area
  • Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Parks Administration, or related field

Certifications and Licenses
  • Valid driver's license
