Department Summary

The Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Texas is a growing organization which serves over 6400 students in 14 residence halls. Our department is organized into the following areas: Residence Life, Systems and Services, and Facilities and Business Operations. UNT Housing contributes to the mission of the university by promoting safe and all-embracing living environments, fostering student connections and campus engagement, and providing unique learning opportunities.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for the implementation and management of the Housing and Residence Life (HRL) outward-facing marketing and communication. This position will serve as the primary person for promoting the UNT residential experience through in-person presentations to prospective students and HRL's social media presence. This position is also responsible managing the mass communication strategy to the UNT residential population.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of professional related experience in coordinating or administering higher education programming or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to prioritize multiple ongoing responsibilities. Strong organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and one year of professional related experience in coordinating or administering higher education programming or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties

  • Oversee the primary HRL social media accounts including content creation, customer service responses, and generating reports on data analytics. Create training opportunities for in-hall staff about content creation. 
  • Regularly attend afterhours and weekend events to document the residential experience with pictures and videos for marketing and content creation purposes. 
  • Conduct in-person marketing experiences on-site as scheduled (e.g., Orientations, Preview Days, etc.). Conduct in-person marketing experiences off-site during UNT Live events (travel required during the spring semester). 
  • Create and disseminate mass communications to ~6,500 residents (e.g., emergency notifications, room assignment deliverables, etc.). 
  • Compile research, develop reports, craft presentations and marketing materials as directed by the Director of Housing Systems and Services or Associate Director of Housing Systems. 
  • Assist as needed with central office management, intradepartmental activities, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Housing Systems and Services.
