Purpose of the Position: The Full-Time Afterschool Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Side by Side Kids (SBSK) faith-based afterschool program at an assigned elementary school while engaging parents, families and community members in programming and related activities.
Job Summary: Make proactive decisions and implement best practices as a campus leader in accordance with the SBSK Afterschool Program standards.
  • Manage and provide on-site supervision, leadership and training for Afterschool Assistant Program Coordinator, Afterschool Youth Development Leaders, volunteers and children
  • Facilitate a positive, productive, and supportive work environment on campus
  • Create and manage program schedule to meet SBSK standards and requirements
  • Maintain student enrollment, attendance, and behavioral records
  • Actively recruit students for a full program and maintain enrollment at 90-100% capacity at all times
  • Maintain an active student enrollment waitlist
  • Secure classroom and facility use at assigned campus appropriate for program needs
  • Ensure all facilities used are maintained and cleaned as required
  • Serve as a liaison by facilitating communication between SBSK staff, volunteers, parents, other on-site programs, and Austin ISD staff
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to place volunteers on campus
  • Collaborate with development team to tell program stories
  • Prepare supplies and materials for daily programming
  • Assess and maintain program supplies and equipment on a regular basis
  • Plan and lead daily Afterschool Team meetings at your campus
  • Prepare and facilitate large group activities and games
  • Implement and support the discipline system utilized by SBSK
  • Communicate with parents concerning their child/childrenโ€™s participation in the program as needed
  • Supervise children left after 6:00 pm and contact parents and/or necessary authorities regarding their pick-up
  • Report any suspected abuse or neglect of SBSK students to a supervisor and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services hotline at 1-800-252-5400 or https://www.dfps.state.tx.us/contact_us/report_abuse.asp
  • Communicate promptly and effectively with supervisor, Afterschool Assistant Program Coordinator, Afterschool Youth Development Leaders, volunteers, via email, text message, phone calls, and face-to-face communication
  • Coordinate campus parties and events via email, face-to-face, and/or phone
  • Notify supervisor of emergency and risky situations in a timely manner
  • Communicate human relations issues regarding Afterschool Assistant Program Coordinators, Afterschool Youth Development Leaders, and volunteers to supervisor as needed
  • Review and approve payroll hours for SBSK Afterschool staff at your campus on a weekly basis
  • Collect and enter student data into the SBSK data reporting systems in a timely manner
  • Attend weekly All Staff Meetings and Afterschool Team meetings at SBSK office
  • Complete and submit weekly reports and requests to supervisor
  • Attend supervisory meetings as requested
  • Lead and help prepare for staff training and culture events each semester alongside other Program Coordinators
  • Attend CPR, First Aid, other training and professional development as requested
Time Requirement: This is a full-time position requiring a maximum of 40 hours per week. Most hours must be completed on site, with the ability to work remotely up to 8 hours per week. Hours will flex to accommodate morning, evening, and weekend activities.
Work Site: The Afterschool Program Coordinator will report to the SBSK office, the assigned elementary school, and various sites within the community.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience working with children and/or youth in a school setting, afterschool program, or mentoring program
  • Strong people and project management skills
  • Ability to supervise, problem solve, and make sound decisions for your campus and staff
  • High level of professionalism and strong organizational skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Familiarity with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting to groups
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback
  • Ability to move around a campus with ease and be accessible to students/staff needs
  • Ability to bend, reach, or stretch for supplies and/or other various objects, as well as life, carry, and move at least 40 pounds
  • Reliable transportation to program site
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) speaking candidates highly encouraged to apply
Educational Qualifications:
  • Associateโ€™s and/or Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field or equivalent experience (Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred)

  • Understand and be able to support a Christ-centered curriculum that communicates the Gospel
  • Trained and equipped on how to share the Gospel
