We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Sr. Associate Controls Engineer supporting the U.S. MTO Team in Johns Creek, GA, a typical day will include:
  • Ensuring effective communication between automated systems' mechanical, electrical, and software elements.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of control systems designs and monitor system performance, ensuring smooth and efficient automated processes.
  • Test and analyze control systems to ensure compliance to GMP/GXP procedures, process functionality and safety.
  • Troubleshoot potential issues and diagnose malfunctions, engaging in proactive problem-solving to mitigate system failures.
  • Maintaining and improving systems while focusing on enhancing efficiency, improving user experience, and reducing downtime.
  • Identify, design and implement improvements to machine and processes related to the infrastructure of contact lens manufacturing.
  • Participation on capital projects including management of associated internal resources and validation.
  • Troubleshoot and correct issues related to Infrastructure and facility supporting processes.
  • Provide expert level support and work with various organizations on key processes.
  • Execute protocols and continuous improvement support for site initiative and prepare documentation related to procedures, training, work instructions, validation, etc.
  • Providing periodic support to the business outside of normal working hours, including participation in the On-Call support cycle as needed.
  • Perform corrective actions, and preventive actions identified through CAPAs, internal and external audits, and gap assessments.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience or knowledge with Siemens Step7 TIA portal.
  • Knowledge or exposure of Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Controls Engineer experience with strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of the following regulations and standards: ISO13485, MDSAP, EU MDR /MDD, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Strong technical skills in engineering/ process safety management experience leading a technical team, and in managing cross-functional areas.
  • Experienced in managing multiple projects.
  • Experience dealing with vendors and consultants as needed for projects.
