JOB STATUS: Full-time, 2nd Shift

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a 2nd Shift Associate Engineer III to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida supporting the Laboratory Support Services and Operations (LASSO) II contract.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Associate Engineer who will play a key technical role in the support and continuous improvement of four Kennedy Space Center Operational Laboratories: Calibration, Nondestructive Testing (NDT), Precision Cleaning, and Chemical Sampling & Analysis. This position places strong emphasis on technical documentation, process development, and AS9100-compliant operational controls, while also supporting essential administrative activities that enable safe and efficient lab operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

  • High School Diploma
  • Ten or more years of experience in operational lab execution.
  • Advanced understanding of AS9100 requirements and their application in maintaining compliant operational labs.
  • Extensive knowledge of training, certifications, work control and procurement for operational labs.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop technical work control documentation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Ability to interpret, apply, and execute written and verbal technical instructions.
  • Able to read, comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to manage digital workflows, including work orders, part requests and material tracking.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, revise, and serve as custodian of all technical documentation supporting the four operational laboratories.
  • Generate work control documentation, specifications, procedures, and technical standards required for compliant lab execution.
  • Maintain and administer the work control database in accordance with AS9100.
  • Oversee technical compliance activities, including vendor approval, technical reviews, and quality system documentation.
  • Provide support to resolve issues related to lab processes, workflow, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with lab personnel to ensure technical accuracy and consistency across calibration, NDT, precision cleaning, and chemical analysis workflows.
  • Serve as Badging Official for contract.
  • Coordinate and track training, certifications, and required physicals for contract personnel.
  • Support employee onboarding/outboarding for contract.
