Position Summary

J. J. Keller is seeking an Associate Editorial Manager to lead and develop a team of Associate Editors while helping create and enhance industry-leading safety and compliance resources used by organizations across North America.

In this role, you'll combine people leadership, content strategy, and subject matter expertise. You'll coach and mentor the editorial team, drive operational and business results, and ensure exceptional service for internal and external stakeholders. You'll also research, write, review, and develop content for a variety of products and custom solutions, serving as a trusted resource for colleagues, customers, and business partners.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong writing and communication skills, a passion for developing others, and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities
  • Leads, develops and coaches team:
    • Provides clear expectations, feedback and recognition
    • Participates in the hiring/selection process
    • Writes and conducts performance evaluations and progress reports
    • Handles associate relations issues
  • Delivers results in line with the following key metrics/accountabilities:
    • On-time performance
    • Project cost management
    • Team chargeability/absorption
    • Associate retention
  • Researches, writes, reviews and/or edits material for guides/manuals, handbooks, newsletters and on-line services.
  • Provides regulatory knowledge, industry best practices, product knowledge and training support to external customers via phone and e-mail, webinars, presentations at outside events, and writing outside articles.
  • Provides consultation to product/service line managers, development resources, executives and others onstrategic or high-profile initiatives.
  • Researches, develops and reviews material for unique or custom projects to support Custom Solutions, Managed Services, Consulting Services and sales channels.
  • Establishes and develops agency, industry and other relevant contacts through correspondence, phone and direct personal contact.
  • Suggests new products/services and revisions of existing products/services.
  • Carries out responsibilities in a fair, ethical and non-discriminatory manner and ensure that staff follows these same guidelines. 
  • Manages expenses in line with departmental budgets and corporate business conditions. 
  • Enforces and supports all company policies and procedures. Fully supports the company's commitment to safety and the environment and strive to maintain a clean, healthy and safe workplace. 
Qualifications

Experience

  • 3+ years experience in a related role.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Experience with the assigned subject matter/market is desirable.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English or other related field, e.g. a subject specific to assigned J. J. Keller market.

Other Skills/Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Ability to coordinate and direct work flows for multiple individuals and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other departments. 

Internal J. J. Keller experience requirements may vary from those for external candidates, with consideration given to demonstrated performance, institutional knowledge, and career progression within the organization.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
