Role Overview:
The Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in the kitchen, supporting the Executive Chef in planning, preparing, and serving high-quality meals to residents and guests. This position ensures compliance with nutrition standards, dietary needs, and safety guidelines while helping to create a positive dining experience that enhances the overall quality of life in the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation practices.
- Collaborate on menu planning, incorporating resident preferences and dietary requirements.
- Monitor food inventory, place orders, and manage stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Uphold regulatory standards and ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Step in to lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Contribute to a welcoming and efficient dining experience that reflects ALG Senior's standards of excellence.
Qualifications:
- Previous culinary experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, nutrition, and dietary restrictions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred but not required.
- Passion for providing excellent service and creating meaningful experiences for residents.
