Job description

The City of Sunnyside is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy City Clerk in the Executive Department. The Deputy City Clerk will assist the City Clerk in organizing and preparing Council information for all City Council meetings. The Deputy Clerk will also provide clerical support to City Council with regards to City Boards, Commissions and Committees. The Deputy City Clerk serves as the Executive Assistant to the City Manager and acts as the liaison between the City Manager and community members and other agencies. This person will screen incoming calls, mail, personal visits. The Deputy City Clerk will also be responsible for scheduling appointments, maintaining a calendar of events for the City Manager, and keep the City Manager informed of appointments and itineraries.
Overview of Job Duties:

  • Assists in preparing public notices for publication according to various legal requirement and procedures.
  • Developing, implementing, administering, maintaining, and preserving City's records and information system.
  • Provides a variety of administrative support to City Clerk and City Manager
  • Oversees the public disclosure process in coordination with all City departments.
  • Reviews and redacts documents consistent with state and federal laws.
  • Acts in the absence of City Clerk
  • Serves as the liaison between the City Manager and community members and other agencies. Screens incoming calls, mail, personal visits and other requests.
  • Schedules appointments, maintains calendar of events and keeps City Manager informed of appointments and itineraries. Arranges and coordinates meetings which may include plans for facility and meal reservations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration or two (2) years education in related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible secretarial experience, preferably in municipal government or another public sector.
