Job description

OVERVIEW: The Assistant Service Manager is responsible for providing support to the Service Manager and service team members. Supervises the daily operations within the service department to help to ensure the overall profitability of the department. Provides leadership and direction to the service team.

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports To: Service Manager

Key Internal Relationships: Sales Manager, Accounting and Shared Services, Parts Department, Service Department, and Warranty Department

Direct Reports: Service Team Members

KEY TASKS:

  • Determine need for repairs through water test, by use of mechanical testing devices, by questioning the customer about the boatโ€™s performance, or by visual inspection of the boat and equipment.
  • Estimate cost of repairs and prepare itemized work order listing costs of parts and labor.- Utilizes MarineMax computer systems and database applications (IDS, Scheduler, Cognos) as applicable.
  • Assist Service Manager with hiring, training, motivating, counseling and monitoring the performance of all service team members.
  • Train and assist Team Leaders to prepare boats in accordance with MarineMax standards and best practices to ensure satisfied customers.
  • Provide technical assistance to service technicians as needed.
  • Assist Service Manager with monitoring and maintaining the efficiency of the department to ensure profitability, including reviewing the monthly service DOC.
  • Inspect quality of work performed as required, prior to delivery to the customer.
  • Coordinate and oversee the installation of optional equipment and electronics.
  • Maintain a clean and professional facility.
  • Implement safe, effective and efficient work procedures.
  • Maintain good working relationships with factory and vendors as they relate to product and quality control.
  • Oversee the proper maintenance of machinery and docks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
