Job SummaryA psychometric assistant performs, usually on a part-time basis, some of the psycho-diagnostic assessments used by school psychologists. The psychometric assistant works as a technician under the guidance of a certified school psychologist with duties limited to psychometric testing and reporting. Such an assignment would be comparable to the trainee school psychologist in level of diagnostic skills required but would not require the same range of functions, nor qualify as an internship experience in the career ladder sequence.

Qualifications- Requires Bachelor's Degree
- Completion of graduate level courses in the psychoeducational assessment of children
Responsibilities- Administers and scores individual intelligence, achievement, developmental, or perceptual motor tests specified by the school psychologist or supervisor. Proficiency in measures such as the WISC-V, KABC, DAS, WIAT-IV, KTEA, and Battelle is preferred.
- Administers and scores social, behavioral, or emotional behavioral checklists.
- Conducts classroom observations, as needed, or other assessments specified by the psychologist or the school psychologist supervisor. Proficiency in observational methods including narrative, time on task, and Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence (ABC) is preferred.
- Discusses test findings and interpretations with the psychologist, reporting unusual circumstances, responses, or results.
- Writes reports of findings and keeps required records.
- Keeps abreast of diagnostic techniques relevant to the position as a psychometric assistant.
- As necessary, participates in ongoing training with school psychologists or supervisors to increase scope and depth of skills in all relevant areas of the practice of school psychology.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
