Assistant Project Manager - Civil Engineering

Looking to take the next step in your civil engineering career? At FEI, you won't just support projects-you'll be part of building them from the ground up. We're seeking an Assistant Project Manager who's ready to grow their technical skills, gain project management experience, and work alongside a team that values collaboration, accountability, and doing things the right way.


What You'll Do

Support Project Success

  • Partner with Project Managers to deliver accurate, high-quality land development projects
  • Help keep projects on track by supporting schedules, budgets, and overall performance

Design & Technical Work

  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
    • Grading and erosion control plans
    • Water, sewer, and stormwater systems
  • Apply survey data and develop a strong understanding of how it impacts design

Coordinate & Communicate

  • Work with clients and regulatory agencies to move projects through approvals
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and efficient project delivery

Documentation & Problem Solving

  • Prepare plans, reports, specifications, and construction documents
  • Assist with permitting and agency coordination
  • Identify challenges, gather information, and help develop practical solutions


What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • 2+ years of land development experience
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset


Preferred Qualifications

  • North Carolina EI (Engineer-in-Training) registration
  • Experience with Ajera or similar project management software
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and agency coordination
