InSite Engineering is seeking an experienced Licensed Professional Planner (PP) to join our multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, surveyors, and landscape architects. This leadership-oriented position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of land development, redevelopment, and permitting projects throughout New Jersey while helping guide projects from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate is a motivated planning professional with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for client service, business development, and community engagement.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Technical Leadership
  • Prepare and manage planning studies, reports, applications, and supporting documentation for development and redevelopment projects.
  • Coordinate planning efforts from conceptual design through permitting and construction.
  • Interpret municipal, county, and state regulations and provide strategic guidance to clients and project teams.
  • Prepare planning testimony and represent clients before municipal boards, governing bodies, and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with permitting and entitlement efforts, including agency coordination and permit expediting.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, attorneys, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Client & Project Management
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and client relationships.
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for assigned clients and coordinate with key project influencers.
  • Assist with project scoping, proposal preparation, budgeting, billing, and project administration.
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness and commitment to client service.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Assist in mentoring, training, and developing planning and production staff.
  • Delegate work appropriately and support team members in achieving project goals.
  • Provide input during employee performance reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration and maintain strong working relationships across departments.
Business Development & Community Engagement
  • Participate in networking events, industry organizations, and business development activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, attorneys, developers, municipal officials, and industry partners.
  • Identify opportunities for new business and support proposal presentations and pursuit efforts.
  • Represent InSite at community events, professional organizations, and industry functions.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Planner (PP) in New Jersey.
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, Surveying, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional planning experience.
  • Strong understanding of land use regulations, zoning, redevelopment, and entitlement processes.
  • Experience preparing planning reports, applications, and expert testimony.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in client development and growing professional relationships.
