Shop Assistant Intern
MSHS Pacific Power Group is seeking a motivated and hands-on Shop Assistant Intern to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This full-time, 3 - 6 month internship is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain practical experience working alongside experienced technicians in a fast-paced marine and power systems environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys working with tools and equipment, and is eager to learn engine maintenance and repair processes while supporting shop operations.
Position Details
  • Work Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Internship Length: 3 - 6 months, depending on availability
  • Travel: minimal travel may be required
  • Employment Type: Full-Time (or part-time to accommodate school schedule)
  • Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM, and overtime and schedule changes may apply
  • Pay Range: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in both the shop and dock areas
  • Assist lead technicians with engine repairs and preventative maintenance activities
  • Support dry dock haul outs and related shop activities
  • Clean and prepare parts removed during engine repairs
  • Clean engine room bilges and assist with general shop upkeep
  • Assist with material handling, tool organization, and shop support duties as needed

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Experience & Education Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience working in an engine shop, mechanical shop, or similar environment preferred
  • Coursework or certification in engine repair, diesel technology, marine technology, or a related field is a plus
