Their tasks typically include administrative duties, scheduling, data entry, and assisting with projects or research. Assistant Interns work under supervision and are expected to learn on the job, develop workplace skills, and contribute to daily operations. This role is commonly filled by students or recent graduates seeking hands-on exposure in a professional environment.

What does an assistant intern do?

As an Assistant Intern, you'll typically handle a mix of administrative and project-based tasks, such as scheduling meetings, preparing documents, conducting basic research, and supporting team members with day-to-day operations. Marketing Intern - Job Description

September to December Internship

HSO is seeking a Marketing Intern to support the Canadian marketing team from September to December. This is a hands-on internship for a student who wants practical experience across social media, CRM, campaign support, event marketing, and day-to-day marketing operations.

Working closely with the Marketing Manager and Sr. Marketing Manager leading the Canadian marketing team, the intern will help keep key marketing activities organized and moving forward. The role is mainly remote, with some hybrid in-office days and in-person event support in Downtown Toronto. As part of a small team, the intern will get exposure to a wide variety of marketing tasks and contribute to real campaigns, events, and business initiatives.

As a global organization, HSO provides opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across North America, Europe, and beyond. While this role focuses on supporting marketing initiatives within Canada, the intern will gain exposure to a broader global marketing team and learn how marketing programs are executed across multiple regions.

The Marketing Intern will also gain experience working alongside Microsoft's Canadian teams through joint campaigns, webinars, events, and go-to-market initiatives, providing valuable exposure to one of the world's leading technology ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating, drafting, and scheduling LinkedIn posts and weekly social media content.
  • Support content planning for LinkedIn, including webinar promotion, event updates, company announcements, and employee advocacy posts.
  • Help maintain CRM and marketing data by supporting list building, contact updates, data cleanup, duplicate review, segmentation, and basic database health activities.
  • Support campaign execution across email, webinars, nurture programs, digital marketing, and account-based marketing activities.
  • Support virtual and in-person events, including registration management, attendee lists, venue coordination, materials, logistics, and on-site support.
  • Help organize marketing assets, campaign calendars, content files, and internal documentation.
  • Provide general marketing and administrative support as needed.

What the Intern Will Learn

  • How B2B marketing works in a technology and Microsoft partner environment.
  • How to support LinkedIn content, campaign promotion, and employee advocacy.
  • How CRM and clean marketing data support better targeting, reporting, and lead management.
  • How webinars, email campaigns, in-person events, and digital channels work together in a marketing program.
  • How to balance multiple priorities while working with a small, collaborative team.
  • Experience working within a global organization while supporting marketing initiatives in Canada.
  • Exposure to collaboration with Microsoft's Canadian marketing and sales teams through joint campaigns and events.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across marketing, sales, industry, and solution groups.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a college or university program in Marketing, Business, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working with lists, data, spreadsheets, and campaign information.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and an interest in social media content creation.
  • Organized, proactive, and willing to learn.
  • Able to work mainly remotely, with availability to attend select in-office days and in-person events in Downtown Toronto.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Canva or similar design tools.
  • Experience supporting events, clubs, student groups, or marketing projects.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar platforms.
  • Interest in technology, business applications, cloud solutions, or the Microsoft ecosystem.

Why Join HSO?

  • Gain hands-on experience across a broad mix of marketing activities, not just one narrow area.
  • Work directly with a Marketing Manager and contribute to live campaigns, events, and business initiatives.
  • Build practical skills in social media, CRM, campaign operations, event logistics, and B2B marketing.
  • Join a collaborative environment where you can learn, ask questions, and take on meaningful work.
  • Gain exposure to both a Canadian marketing team and a broader global marketing organization.
  • Learn how Microsoft partners collaborate with Microsoft on joint campaigns, webinars, events, and business initiatives.Â
