Job description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in "valid" Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

  • The Assistant Graphic Designer will be using Berklee's content management system Air to tag and manage graphic assets so that they can be found easily and reused in new courses.

  • The Assistant Graphic Designer will be required to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to assist in creating content for courses. Said content can be everything from a simple line graph, to a diagram of a studio, to vector icons representing various objects/ideas.

  • The Assistant Graphic Designer will deliver graphics via Google Drive in the correct file format, naming conventions and folder structure.

  • The Assistant Graphic Designer will meet once a week during business hours to discuss workload, deadlines and necessary edits to created graphics. They must be available at least 5 hours of the work week to have these meetings and answer Slack messages/emails. As this is a remote position, the remaining 5 hours of work are flexible to your schedule.

Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • The ideal candidate must have some artistic experience or knowledge of graphic design; this could include digital art, logo design, vector icon creation, typography, and/or general ability to create artistic representations of objects/ideas. Please include a portfolio of past work to be considered.

  • Good organization and communication skills is a must as well, and they should be familiar with using google tools (calendar, email, sheets and drive).

  • Candidate must be able to follow instructions well and adhere to Berklee design guidelines.

  • Candidate should know the difference between a png, jpg, svg and a pdf file format.

  • A drive to learn new artistic skills, tools, and applications as well as a creative mind!

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
  • Knowledge or experience with Adobe programs is preferred but not necessary, especially Illustrator and the pen tool. Experience with similar free versions of said tools is also accepted (such as Gimp, Procreate, Affinity, Inkscape etc.)
