Maintenance Technician

Location: Allen County, IN
Hourly Rate: $18.00-$26.00 (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with some evening and weekend on-call hours.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in supporting the maintenance supervisor and team in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of multiple facilities. This position involves a variety of tasks, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance, as well as assisting with emergency maintenance and groundskeeping when needed. The technician will be expected to handle work orders with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks based on urgency, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Prioritize and complete maintenance work orders in a timely manner, escalating to the supervisor when needed.
  • Assist other technicians and the supervisor as necessary.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for other management members and the CFO in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Handle general maintenance tasks, including HVAC, electrical, drywall, plumbing, floor projects, and appliance repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to schedule.
  • Provide emergency maintenance and security support, including on-call duties for vans, fire extinguishers, and facilities.
  • Assist with groundskeeping tasks, such as lawn care, snow removal, landscaping, and cleaning gutters.
  • Operate equipment like snowplows, zero-turn mowers, leaf blowers, weed eaters, and power washers.
  • May assist with custodial duties and special projects as needed.
  • Adhere to Cardinal Services Human Resources policies and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass criminal/registry background checks and other required screenings.
  • Must be eligible for bonding.
  • At least two years of experience in maintenance, with general knowledge of plumbing, heating, electricity, carpentry, appliances, and HVAC preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., perform repetitive bending, twisting, and climbing.
  • Must be able to operate a 12-passenger van with a small trailer and a zero-turn lawn mower.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, proof of auto insurance, and at least 3 years of driving experience required.
  • Mechanical aptitude is necessary.
Working Conditions:
  • Employee will work at various site locations, including the main campus and assigned group homes or apartment sites.
  • The position requires the ability to work in various weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
