Job description

Overview
Knowledge Services is currently seeking an Office Assistant for a contract through the end of 2026 (potential for extension) with the City of Indianapolis working downtown in Indianapolis.
Work Location: Fully on-site in the City-County Building
Parking: Complimentary parking will be available in a designated City-approved garage located about two blocks from the City-County Building.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm with a 30min lunch.
Pay Rate: $14.96/hour
Responsibilities
Office Assistant Responsibilities include:
• The City of Indianapolis is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Office Assistant to support the Department of Business and Neighborhood Services.
• In this fully onsite role, the selected candidate will provide a wide range of administrative services while serving as a professional point of contact for customers, staff, and clients.
• Success in this position requires exceptional organizational abilities, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications
Office Assistant Skills Required:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar), Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Experience managing incoming phone calls and drafting professional correspondence via email.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Skills:
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a general office environment
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional office environment
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Experience with data entry, database searches, and basic coordination or administrative support activities
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and manage priorities effectively.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to track tasks, maintain accurate records, and follow up on outstanding items in a timely manner.
