Location: East Lansing, MI

Schedule: Full-Time | In-Person

Experience: 4+ Years Preferred | Litigation Experience Required

A respected law firm specializing in medical malpractice defense is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join its East Lansing team. The firm represents hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in complex litigation matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong litigation legal assistant who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment. This role will provide direct support to the firm’s partners on a variety of litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities

· Support up to 3 attorneys and assist paralegals with active litigation matters

· File legal documents with Ingham County and other Michigan courts

· Draft, review, edit, and format pleadings and other legal documents

· Assist attorneys and paralegals with drafting and editing motions

· Maintain organized case files and litigation documents

· Ensure filings and documents are accurate, timely, and properly prepared

Qualifications

· Litigation experience is required; experience in any area of litigation will be considered

· Approximately 5+ years of legal assistant experience preferred

· Strong knowledge of legal filing procedures and court documents

· Ability to draft and edit pleadings and legal documents

· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to manage multiple attorneys and competing priorities

· Must be comfortable working full-time in person in East Lansing

This position does not involve legal research or calendaring. The Legal Assistant will not independently draft motions but will assist attorneys and paralegals with drafting, editing, and preparing motions and other legal documents.

Compensation & Benefits

· Salary Range: $50 - $60K/yr - compensation is negotiable based on experience

· 2 weeks vacation + PTO

· 401(k) with 3% employer match

· Employer-paid dental and disability insurance

· Employer pays 70% of employee medical insurance premium
