SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Sales & Catering will build rapport with clients, qualify their needs, sell the appropriate hotel to serve their needs, book the business (Business / Groups), and secure the sale with contracts. This person will ensure to book midweek corporate business on the business segment assigned as well as conferences, meetings, group events ,weekend business and has all the information needed to adequately service the hotel business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand the overall market (e.g. competitorsโ€™ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends and how to sell against them).
  • Close the best opportunities for Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa based on market conditions and hotel business needs.
  • Identify prospective new accounts through market research. Consistently meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Regular competition analysis and feedback internally to the hotel.
  • Arrange and conduct customer sales presentations and sales call on weekly basis.
  • Responsible for developing strategies to increase market share from competitors, while working with Marriott Global Sales.
  • Negotiate guest room rates, function space and meeting room rental within approved guidelines.
  • Identifies and solicits new group /catering business to achieve hotel revenue goals.
  • Maximizes catering revenue by upselling packages and creative food & beverage.
  • Conduct hotel and banquet facility tours and entertain qualified clients in accordance with company and property policies.
SKILLS
  • Interested candidates must possess strong leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, a professional demeanor, and conduct customer sales presentations.
  • This job will require mastery of the reactive and proactive sales process.
  • Additionally, this position will be responsible for complex business decisions and contract knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Director of Sales or Director Catering in a 4-5 star hotel.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 yearsโ€™ experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
