Reports To: Aftercare Coordinator/ Director 
FLSA Classification: Hourly Classified
Full Time/Part Time Status: Part-Time, non-exempt 
Regular/Temporary: Regular
Regular Framework: Hourly
Pay Range: $22.88-$27.89.  Step 2, Classified Framework.
Benefits: This position does not qualify for benefits

Summary
The Assistant Coordinator, Expanded Learning serves as direct administrative support to the Aftercare Coordinator/Director and may serve as second in charge in the absence of the Aftercare Coordinator/Director. The Assistant Coordinator plays a role as a mentor, tutor, activity leader, and sports coach. The Assistant Coordinator also plans and coordinates the curriculum and provides outreach and communication to families.
 
About High Tech High Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High ("HTH") opened in September 2000 as a small public project-based charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,500 students in grades K-12 across four San Diego County campuses (Point Loma, Clairemont, North County, and Chula Vista). The HTH organization also includes a comprehensive adult learning environment including a Teacher Credentialing Program and the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, offering professional development opportunities serving national and international educators. 
 
Job Function/Description High Tech High Expanded Learning Programs are an important element of the school day experience. The Assistant Coordinator of Expanded Learning plays a unique role as a mentor, tutor, activity leader, and sports coach. In addition to providing a safe and quiet place for students to receive extra tutoring, our program also offers enrichment opportunities. The Assistant Coordinator of Expanded Learning plans and coordinates curriculum, provides outreach and communication to families, serves as a direct administrative support to the Aftercare Coordinator/Director, and may serve as second in charge in the absence of the Aftercare Coordinator/Director. Duties include, but are not limited to: 
Provide outreach and communication to families 
Serve as a direct administrative support to the Aftercare Coordinator/Director
May serve as second in charge in the absence of the Aftercare Coordinator/Director
Supervise school-aged children indoors and outdoors
Maintain an orderly, safe, and organized environment for the students 
Take attendance to ensure all students are accounted for
  Plan, develop, and facilitate engaging student activities 
Assist students with learning activities and homework assignments 
Understand and implement emergency procedures, including safety protocols 
Perform related duties as assigned 
 
The ideal candidate would possess the following competencies: 
Ability to work well with school-aged students 
Comfortable leading academic and enrichment activities with students 
Inform and communicate effectively 
Ability to work with diverse population
 
Knowledge and Qualifications 
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred 
Experience working with students
 
 
Clearances
Tuberculosis Clearance and Department of Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance criminal records summary
 
 Working Conditions 
Environment: Indoor and outdoor setting 
 
Physical Abilities:  
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time 
Hearing and speaking to communicate and exchange information 
Seeing to observe accuracy of reports and documents
Dexterity of hand and finger to operate office equipment
Bending at the waist, kneeling , and reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and other items as needed.
