Pay Range: $28.92-$36.15/hourly compensation
Assists in the preparation, cooking and serving of hot and cold food for the restaurants, room service, banquet or cafeteria according to The Kahala Hotel & Resort Oriental's high standards of quality. May be assigned to handle a short order station for all meals; may set up and serve buffet.
Position Requirements
  • Prepares, cooks and serves food according to the hotel's standard recipes. Prepares all the prep work for soups, sauces, salads. Makes bread crumbs, grates cheese, chips shallots and garlic, clarifies butter, peels onions, and chops parsley. Visually inspects, selects and uses food items of the highest quality in the preparation of all menu items.

  • Supplies assigned work stations with all needed products and culinary equipment for prompt production. Requires lifting and transporting of products weighing up to 50 lbs. and with the assistance of a hand cart/truck up to 300 lbs.

  • Stores all food in refrigerated boxes including covers, labels and dates, using the proper containers to protect against waste and spoilage.

  • Sets-up and replenishes buffets. Runs the omelette station in restaurant and banquet buffet.

  • Ensures all equipment in working areas are clean and in proper working condition. Performs general/routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor in adherence to health standards.

Education/Training Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma preferred.
Experience/Skill Requirements:
  • One(1) to two(2) years cooking experience required.

  • Experience in a medium sized resort with multiple food and beverage outlets preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Certification of tuberculosis clearance required.

  • CPR and Standard First Aid Certification preferred.

  • Kitchen Sanitation Certificate preferred.
