Job description

Job Summary:

Join our team at Palolo Chinese Home as a Full Time Cook Helper in our onsite kitchen in beautiful Honolulu, HI. As a Cook Helper, you will have the exciting opportunity to work alongside our skilled culinary team and assist in preparing delicious cuisine. You will have the chance to learn from experienced chefs and contribute to the creation of exceptional dishes. By assisting with food preparation, ensuring the kitchen is clean and organized, and supporting the team in various tasks, you will play a vital role in delivering excellent dining experiences to our residents.


Starting Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 - Based on experience and skillset.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing food ingredients in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Utilizing kitchen equipment safely and efficiently to cook meals.
  • Following recipes to prepare food that meets nutritional requirements.
  • Reviewing menus for improvements.
  • Assembling food supplies and equipment.
  • Labeling, dating, and appropriately storing food items.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions in the kitchen.


Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation.
  • At least six months of experience as a cook helper, dietary aide, or other food production position.
  • Knowledge of proper knife handling skills, temperature control, and kitchen sanitation.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations for portioning and measuring ingredients.
  • Ability to communicate in English to follow recipes, instructions, and production logs.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare facility is helpful but not required.
