The NutriQuest Business Solutions (NQBS) team is comprised of leading financial and business experts that provide fractional financial leadership in the agricultural industry, primarily livestock (particularly swine and row-crop). Our team focuses on the specific needs of a business to offer expertise in consulting with livestock and row-crop producers in the areas of financial and accounting management, strategic planning/financial projections, financial restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, financial planning, management information systems, risk management and benchmarking.


Job Summary

Responsible for leading the accounting, monthly close, and financial reporting activities for multiple clients. This position will work directly with clients to a design a month-end close process that ensures accurate and timely financial statements. May supervise the accounting staff of multiple clients simultaneously including overseeing the processes for daily, monthly and quarterly reporting, including (but not limited to) reconciliation of Livestock Inventory, Feed/Grain Inventory, Cash, Prepaids, Debt, A/P, and A/R. Applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare financial reports by compiling information and utilize appropriate accounting control procedures. Assist the Consulting Chief Financial Officers in managing the processes of forward-planning/budgeting and benchmarking analysis for clients. Prepare and populate the NQBS standard Actual vs. Budget financial reporting template on a monthly basis, producing publish-ready financial reports for client delivery. Responsible for working with general manager/CEO/production managers/staff members for various clients to create and assist Consulting CFO with managing forward projection models. Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs of NutriQuest and consistently demonstrates our core values. Travel will be required based upon client requests and needs.

Essential Functions

  • Processes
    • Ensure financial systems and supporting information systems are in place for each client's accounting department to ensure accurate and timely preparation and dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audit, and annual budgets
    • Assist in procedure development and recommend/implement process improvements
  • Accounting
    • Month end close journal entries, account reconciliation, cash management, financial analysis, intercompany, and data management
    • Accounting activities in the areas of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets
    • Intercompany accounts receivable and accounts payable activity including reconciliation, confirmation, accruals, issue resolution and accurate reporting
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
    • Preparing financials in accordance with GAAP including consolidated financials with proper eliminations
    • Present and report relevant, accurate and timely historical operating and financial information of the organization for presentation of production-driven analysis to key decision makers and stakeholders.
    • Calculate the actual performance at both the entity-wide level and the revenue/cost center level, benchmarking to plan, for both financial and operating drivers of the operation.
    • Calculate variances from the budget using NQBS standard Actual vs Budget financial reporting template to produce publish-ready reports for client delivery.
    • Generate executive summary commentary to the client summarizing monthly activity, trends, variance to budget narrative and publish financials

  • Assist Consulting CFO with the development of and utilization of forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analysis to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plan Analyze financial information and assist with preparation of forecasts

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with related 5+ years of experience of practical work experience. Candidate should be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a Controller-level position
  • Agriculture or manufacturing experience required
  • Experience in leading a financial statement close process and reporting is required
  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative with a strong ability to understand and solve challenges
