Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator, the Assistant Court Administrator will manage the daily operation of the City's Municipal Court. Manage, evaluate, and provide leadership to subordinates. Perform management support and administrative functions for court operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of general office, clerical, or customer service experience.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible municipal court experience required, including one year supervising court staff.
  • Previous cash handling experience.
  • Texas Municipal Court Clerk Certification, Level II preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of management, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge of state law, city ordinances, and department policies/procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting methods to balance receipts.
  • Ability to present oneself in a professional and competent manner.
  • Ability to be informative and courteous to all contacts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to quickly and accurately type information in the computer.
  • Ability to provide an environment conductive to employee self-motivation and teamwork.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, mental acuity, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and visual acuity.
