Job Overview
The Assistant Manager, Asset Protection, supports the Asset Protection Manager, My Macy's initiatives, Omnichannel strategies, and the We Care Service Model through actively managing a team of direct reports. They identify shortage results and causes, developing programs and procedures to reduce shortage. Other duties are performed as assigned.
What You Will Do
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop a team of Asset Protection direct reports, providing necessary feedback and coaching; conduct quarterly and annual performance check-ins, making talent development and promotion decisions; address colleague concerns; collaborate with HR on performance and conduct issues.
  • Assist the Asset Protection Manager in supervising indirect reports.
  • Protect and monitor company assets, alarms, property, colleagues, and visitors by enforcing company and Asset Protection policies.
  • Drive all aspects of The Shortage Program and cultivate a Shortage culture.
  • Identify shortage results and causes, collaborating with AP Manager/Store Manager to create effective preventive action plans supporting profit objectives; initiate new programs and procedures to reduce shortage through training and development of the Asset Protection team.
  • Manage and monitor internal and external case productivity and recoveries; participate in internal and external theft investigations; assist with surveillance and apprehensions as needed.
  • Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe shopping and work environment for customers and colleagues.
  • Develop and foster partnerships with local law enforcement.
  • Ensure regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Problem Identification and Solution Development: Identify shortage results and causes; collaborate with AP Manager/Store Manager to formulate preventive action plans; initiate new programs and procedures to reduce shortage through training and development.
Case Management and Investigation: Manage and monitor internal and external case productivity and recoveries; participate in theft investigations; assist with surveillance and apprehensions.
Time Management and Prioritization: Demonstrate the ability to prioritize, effectively plan, and execute strategies.
Leadership and Adaptability: Exhibit strong leadership qualities, ability to build partnerships, excellent time management skills; work independently or as part of a team; adapt quickly to changing priorities; demonstrate commitment to the highest integrity and professional business standards.
Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, fostering effective communication and collaboration with diverse groups of customers, peers, and stakeholders.

Who You Are
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 1-3 years of Asset protection supervisory experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft reports and other communications; present to management and internal and external business partners; interpret technical documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
