Job description

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Vocational / Specialized Training in Water/Wastewater Construction/Operations

Journeyman Certification from a Bonafide Apprenticeship program as a Master System Operator.

5 - 7 years' experience in Water/Wastewater Construction/Operations.

2 years of Supervisory experience required.

Must be proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, MS Projects, Project Management and Outlook).

Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class "A" with HAZMAT Endorsement (subject to motor vehicle record review).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Supervises employees directly including selection, training, performance appraisal and work allocation.

Plans, organizes, schedules and supervises the work duties of assigned staff.

Schedules preventive maintenance on water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Ensures compliance with surface water treatment rules of the Safe Water Drinking Act.

Ensures projects are in compliance with all regulatory laws, environmental, hazardous waste, OSHA and other safety requirements.

Investigates customer complaints and recommends a course of action.

Makes routine inspections of water distribution systems and informs appropriate staff of recommended maintenance and repairs.

Maintains well and maintenance records; reviews and approves all 86-121 project documents to ensure compliance with set standards and policies; assists well operations in mobilization and demobilization of equipment, including pulling of deep well turbines and submersible pumps and the preparation process of pulling wells and resetting of pump controls.

Provides job documentation in written reports and properly complete forms.

Ensure the staff comply and adhere to the safety policies and requirement for a safe work environment.

Documents all tailgate sessions for the crew prior to the start of project work.

Monitors, tracks and reports on the water/wastewater projects within the responsible area.

Monitors, tracks and reports Water Department Apprentices involved in Apprenticeship program.

Prepares preliminary cost estimates, bills of materials and work order documents for large projects.

Enters data on records manually or through data entry.

Responsible for preparing the operation/maintenance budget and the capital budget on an annual basis and ensures the expenditures are within the budgeted amount.

Prepares purchase requisitions for equipment, tools, and other necessary items.

Utilizes SAP to monitor and close out job orders.

Ensures performance goals and objectives are met.

Must be able to perform standby duties.

Conducts safety meeting presentations.

Applicant must demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and ability to motivate employee performance.

Must be ambitious, enthusiastic, a self-starter, loyal, respectful, innovative, strong interpersonal and oral communication skills; time management qualities are essential to handle multi-tasks and assignments
