Job description

Job Summary

HL Mando is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to serve as the primary technical lead for suspension damper design and development within vehicle programs. This role will act as the main point of contact for OEM customers, supporting product development from concept through production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical interface with OEM customers for design, development, and issue resolution
  • Lead engineering development of suspension damper and module programs based on customer deliverables and technical requirements
  • Evaluate customer requirements and support new business opportunities, including technical proposals and negotiations
  • Coordinate program activities with cross-functional teams in Korea, Mexico, and customer organizations
  • Develop and maintain timelines in collaboration with Program Management to track program progress and support manufacturing deliverables
  • Manage open issues lists, lead meetings, and drive resolution efforts
  • Lead Design Validation and Production Validation and present results to customers
  • Oversee prototype builds in coordination with design, testing, and program teams
  • Support PPAP gate reviews and documentation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development and production


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in suspension or damper design/application
    or 8+ years of experience in chassis design/application
  • Understands damper technologies at an intermediate level
  • Strong problem-solving and project coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with OEM customers


Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based
  • Occasional lab work involving testing and evaluation of components
  • Occasional domestic and international travel required (e.g., Mexico, South Korea)


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally
