Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide outreach to community members and in reach to ECDHD/GNCHC patients/clients on the health insurance Marketplace Exchanges and the Nebraska Medicaid Program. Assist uninsured patients/clients by determining eligibility to apply for the Marketplace Exchanges and Nebraska Medicaid Program and assisting with the application for those programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Educate and inform individuals about the availability of the Marketplace Exchanges and the     Nebraska Medicaid Program.
  • Assist and assess uninsured individuals for eligibility in the Marketplace Exchanges and the Nebraska Medicaid Program and assist them in completing the appropriate application.
  • Provide information to patients/clients about existing health insurance brokers and other health insurance resources as needed.
  • Follow up with potential enrollees and applicants to ensure program enrollment.
  • Provide monthly data regarding application and enrollment statistics.
  • Initiate contact with uninsured individuals through outreach activities to community agencies, community gatherings, neighborhoods and other appropriate venues.
  • Participate in required state and federal trainings related to the Marketplace Exchanges and Nebraska Medicaid Program.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and provide a supportive and understanding environment for all patient/client interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • GED required or High School Diploma.
  • Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to receive Certified Application Counselor certification.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Previous experience working with Nebraska Medicaid.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to work well with individuals of diverse socioeconomic, cultural and intellectual backgrounds.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Previous knowledge enrolling individuals into the Nebraska Medicaid Program.
  • At least two-years’ experience within community service, health care or social service organization desired.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, which may include prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, lift, stoop, and stretch as needed.
  • Sufficient visual acuity and hearing to perform job tasks effectively.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, telephone, and copier, requiring hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 35 pounds on an occasional basis.
