Job description

The Hope Group, A SunSource Company and a leading supplier of automation motion control components and system solutions, seeks a self-motivated and dedicated Fluid Connector Outside Sales Representative to generate new sales opportunities while developing long term professional relationships with existing and new prospective customers.
Position Scope: To sell compressed air system products, services, parts accessories and Air System capabilities within a specific geographic territory and present a positive company and personal image to maximize sales, company profits and customer satisfaction.
Primary functions of the position include but are not limited to:
  • Aggressively pursue sales of compressed air products and services in territory through mailers, cold-calls, advertising and relationship building to achieve yearly sales goals, increase market share and maximize profits. Includes new machine sales, accessory equipment, service, parts, rentals, lubricants and additional consultative services such as energy audits, air surveys and training programs.
  • Coordinate with inside administrative, service and sales support staff in management of accounts including parts procurement, service and maintenance to enhance aftermarket/ parts sales and customer retention and loyalty - effectively manage all aspects of the buying cycle.
  • Provide feedback to management on market conditions and equipment/product operational status.
  • Provide customers with engineering services and consultation including the engineering of complete compressed air systems.
  • Proactively and constructively analyze customer accounts to determine potential for both present and future equipment needs. Establish rapport between customers and The Hope Group matching benefits of equipment to customer needs.
  • Plan focus and target for accounts, markets, industries or geography activity plans. Communicate plans with manager and sales team members to better leverage The Hope Group capabilities and sales force skill strengths.
  • Identify, develop and educate a sub-dealer network in assigned area to sell and service our small air compressor (dealer-class) product. Educate architects and engineering firms to write specification that require the use of HAS Vendor equipment.
  • Research and prepare presentation of product designed to satisfy specific account requirement while maximizing company profits. Prepare written quotes and track all active quotations on company CRM [Tour deForce].
  • Supervise the acquisition, ordering, delivery, installation and start-up of product order for end-user account, ensuring that both The Hope Group and customer fulfill contract requirements.
  • Maintain and submit timely and accurate reports of daily, weekly business and sales activity through Tour DeForce.
  • Continuously seek self-improvement in the area of sales through the use of continuing education and certifications.
  • Act as liaison between customer and various departments to settle disputes including credit problems, collections, delivery, and warranty issues.
  • Positively and constructively contribute to the development of a hard-working, effective team with fellow employees in service, parts, administrative and direct sales areas.
  • Remain current on equipment technology (HAS and competitive) to enhance ability to succeed in competitive selling situations. Expand product knowledge to products and accessories not normally considered part of the distributor-class product so that benefit to customer needs is enhanced.
  • Represent company at industry and high-level trade show events.
  • Provide advanced systems consultation to customers.
  • Assist in conducting customer training seminars.

Experience & Skills Required:
  • Minimum bachelors degree in Engineering or Business with a strong proven ability to grasp and work with technical products and sales and/or at least three years of direct customer contact dealing with air compressors or very similar product.
  • 2. Desire, self-confidence, imagination, commitment and self-motivation with an ability to independently and proactively sustain required sales activity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular emphasis on developing positive relationships with customers, clients and fellow-employees, presentation skills, negotiating and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to probe, question and analyze customer requirements. Consult and advise on recommended solutions to compressed air problems and applications.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Experience and expertise utilizing personal computers to organize, plan and communicate.
  • Good administrative and paperwork skills to guarantee that quotes, proposals and order invoices are properly completed and expedited.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability to operate vehicle is required for this position.
  • Proven ability to be a leader, manager and motivator of others. Geographic flexibility.
  • May require exposure to dusty, damp and noisy environments. Also may require significant travel within territory by using vehicle and variable work schedules and extra hours.
