Patient Enrollment Specialist

Join our Health Services team in a rewarding role focused on helping patients access essential healthcare benefits and services. The Patient Enrollment Specialist coordinates patient enrollments, referrals, benefit eligibility, and appointment support while providing compassionate customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about improving the patient experience.

What does a Patient Enrollment Specialist do?

  • Schedules meetings with patients to facilitate the Davis Vision enrollment and process.
  • Processes and obtains authorizations for referrals.
  • Processes all Valley Chiropractic Invoices for payment.
  • Compiles weekly batches for bank deposits.
  • Mailing post cards for Davis Vision eligibility benefits.
  • Requests new/replacement AIHP/Davis Vision Cards from New York State.
  • Enrolls new/inactive Oneida Indian Nation Health Services patients.
  • Provides monthly Referral Utilization report.
  • Schedules/reschedules primary and/or secondary appointments with providers in accordance with medical/dental needs to assist Referral Specialist when needed and when Referral Specialist is out of the office.
  • Inputs referral appointments and any follow-up needs according to primary referral report to assist Referral Specialist when needed and when Referral Specialist is out of the office.
  • Notifies patients of appointments scheduled, makes follow-up calls to off-site providers to ensure that client kept appointment and reminds provider to submit a Consultation Report to assist Referral Specialist when needed and when Referral Specialist is out of the office.
  • Attends Utilization Review Committee meetings and any other meetings as designated by the Clinical Director, Health Operations Director or PRC Business Office Manager.
  • Provides accurate, up-to-date data and information in a timely manner as requested.
  • Adheres to Oneida Indian Nation Health Services Security and Confidentiality policies and procedures in regards to all daily job functions and receives annual update training regarding each area.

Work Experience

To be successful as a Patient Enrollment Specialist, you'll need:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology.
  • One year experience in Ambulatory Care and/or Medical Office preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, co-workers, contractors and third party payers.
  • Must be able to work effectively with staff and clients in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Working knowledge of computerized equipment to gather and enter a variety of data.
  • Adept at using computer information systems to enter and access data.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 11 - 20 pounds.
