OVERVIEW

Alaska Industrial Hardware, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified Counter Sales employees for our South Anchorage retail location. Have you been told that you have a talent for customer service and a genuine ability to see when others need assistance? If so, check out our Counter Sales position, open now at our convenient South Anchorage store location. As part of the front line, it will be your duty to represent AIH by welcoming and assisting customers and keeping the store tidy and well stocked.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process POS (point of sale) transactions
  • Assure proper service and care is given to every customer
  • Stock, assemble, and rotate merchandise from all inbound store freight
  • Complete daily assignments at the direction of the store management team
  • Maintain assigned area of the store in keeping with proper merchandising standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred but not required. Relevant experience in a fast-paced environment will be considered an asset.

  • Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with customers and provide excellent service.

  • Basic Math Skills: Ability to handle cash transactions, give change, and accurately manage registers.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.

  • Dependability: Punctuality and reliability with a strong work ethic.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge of product sold
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be self-motivated, being able to complete tasks during unsupervised periods

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Background in the retail, construction or trade industry
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
  • Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Associate, Sales Representative or similar role
