Job description

About the Role

We are a fast-growing digital marketing agency specializing in helping private practices dominate their local markets through proven marketing systems.

Our services include websites, paid ads, SEO, reputation management, and automation — all packaged into high-converting monthly programs.

We generate consistent inbound demand and are looking for a strong closer to take over sales and help scale the next phase of growth.

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help grow our digital marketing agency by converting inbound leads, executing outbound outreach, and guiding business owners into the right long-term marketing solutions.

This is a consultative sales role — not order-taking.

You’ll be responsible for managing the full sales cycle: qualifying prospects, diagnosing marketing challenges, presenting solutions, overcoming objections, and helping clients confidently move forward with our services.

If you enjoy strategy-based selling, building relationships, and closing meaningful deals (not pushing junk), this role is for you.

Core Responsibilities
Inbound & Active Sales

  • Take inbound sales calls and discovery meetings
  • Ask intelligent questions to uncover business goals, challenges, and opportunities
  • Develop tailored marketing solutions based on each prospect’s situation
  • Present marketing packages clearly and confidently
  • Handle objections and concerns professionally
  • Guide qualified prospects through enrollment and onboarding
  • Ensure expectations are properly set before closing

Lead Follow-Up & Nurture

  • Follow up with leads using phone, SMS, email, and CRM sequences
  • Execute multi-touch follow-up campaigns (including physical mailers when applicable)
  • Maintain consistent communication with warm prospects until decision is made
  • Track all activity inside the CRM

Outbound & Pipeline Development

  • Run digital marketing audits for cold prospects
  • Collect and verify lead data (websites, phone numbers, emails, decision makers)
  • Build and manage outbound prospecting lists
  • Formulate and execute cold outreach strategies (calls, emails, texts, mail)
  • Identify ideal-fit prospects and initiate conversations
  • Book discovery calls from outbound efforts

CRM & Operations

  • Maintain clean, accurate CRM records
  • Update lead statuses and deal stages
  • Log call notes and next actions
  • Track opportunities and forecast pipeline
  • Follow defined sales processes and workflows

“Off-Call” Productivity (When You’re Not Actively Selling)

In between inbound sales calls, you’ll be expected to proactively build pipeline by:

  • Running marketing audits for outbound prospects
  • Building prospect lists
  • Improving outreach sequences
  • Reviewing past lost deals for reactivation opportunities
  • Researching industries, competitors, and messaging angles
  • Refining sales scripts and objection handling
  • Coordinating with fulfillment teams to better understand service delivery
  • Identifying upsell or expansion opportunities in existing accounts

This is not a passive role — downtime means pipeline-building time

Industry Events & Travel

While this is primarily a remote position, there will be periodic opportunities to travel and represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, and client meetings.

Travel frequency will vary throughout the year but may include several multi-day events annually. All approved business travel expenses are covered by the company.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships face-to-face and being able to build pipeline by networking in person.

Required Skills & Experience
Sales

  • Prior B2B sales experience (preferably marketing services, SaaS, or high-ticket services)
  • Comfortable running discovery calls and closing deals independently
  • Strong objection-handling ability
  • Confident communicator on phone and video
  • Organized follow-up habits
  • Results-driven mindset

Marketing Knowledge

  • Working understanding of digital marketing concepts such as:
  • Websites
  • SEO/AEO
  • Paid advertising (Google & Social)
  • Lead generation
  • Funnels/automation/CRM systems
  • AI agents
  • Previous experience selling marketing services is a major plus
  • Ability to speak marketing “lingo” with business owners

You don’t need to be an execution expert — but you must understand what you’re selling.

Technical & Process

  • Comfortable using CRM systems
  • Basic spreadsheet and data-entry competency
  • Willingness to follow documented sales processes
  • Ability to learn new software quickly

Personal Traits

  • Self-motivated
  • Coachable
  • Strong work ethic
  • Organized
  • Persistent without being annoying
  • Professional and trustworthy
  • Comfortable with accountability and targets

Who This Is Perfect For

  • A strong closer who wants more opportunity and upside
  • Someone tired of weak leads or low-ticket offers
  • A self-starter who can take ownership of both inbound + outbound
  • Someone who thrives and is motivated in commission-based roles

Who This Is NOT For

  • Someone who needs constant hand-holding
  • Appointment setters (this is a closing role)
  • Anyone uncomfortable with commission-based earnings
  • People who avoid follow-up or outbound effort

Compensation

  • Base salary: $3,000 /month
  • Commission: 50% - 75% of the first month's revenue on every closed deal
  • On-Target Earnings: $90,000 – $130,000+ annually (top performers can exceed this)

Performance Expectations

Success in this role is measured primarily by:

  • New Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) generated
  • Deal quality and client retention
  • Follow-up consistency
  • CRM accuracy and activity
  • Professionalism in client interactions
  • Note-taking and new client handoffs

This is a performance-based role with clear expectations.
