Job Description Summary
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer for CMM and Metrology plays a critical role in ensuring product quality and reliability by developing, maintaining, and continuously improving measurement system programs and processes. In this role, you will own all automated inspection equipment, including ultrasonic immersion, laser scanning, and coordinate measurement machines. This position will also serve as a trusted technical expert for dimensional inspection, GD&T interpretation, and metrology systems, partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
In this role, you will help translate engineering intent into effective inspection strategies-supporting product conformance, process capability, and continuous improvement. You'll join a collaborative environment where your expertise directly impacts manufacturing excellence, customer confidence, and innovation.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, validate, and implement product inspection methodology and programs using a variety of automated inspection systems
  • Optimize and standardize ultrasonic inspection programs to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Adhere with and complete validation and documentation requirements of ISO 13485 and local site quality management system
  • Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to inspection plans and measurement analysis
  • Identify, evaluate, and support the introduction of new measurement methods and metrology systems to improve inspection capability and throughput
  • Create and maintain inspection plans, measurement methods, and clear, user-friendly work instructions
  • Train and support manufacturing personnel on inspection systems, providing troubleshooting as needed
  • Review engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to ensure measurability and inspection feasibility early in the design process
  • Conduct GR&R, MSA, and calibration studies to validate measurement system performance
  • Investigate dimensional nonconformances and collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify and document root causes and drive effective corrective actions

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience OR High school diploma or GED with at least 10 years of relevant hands-on experience
  • Technical knowledge and skills:
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience programming and operating automated inspection systems
  • Understanding of dimensional measurement techniques
  • Proficiency with statistical tools such as GR&R, SPC, and capability analysis
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and CAD models

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PolyWorks, Calypso, PC-DMIS, or similar metrology software
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical device, or other precision manufacturing environments
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) or equivalent
  • Experience with optical, vision, laser scanning, or non-contact metrology systems
  • Familiarity with CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks CAD models
