If you are a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! The Copeland Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) organization is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in CNC machining technology and process development to join our dynamic team responsible for applying world-class manufacturing solutions to create best-in-class products and drive operational excellence in scroll machining. This position, based at our campus in Sidney, Ohio, will focus primarily on supporting manufacturing projects and strategic initiatives for CNC machining, and sharing best practices between regional manufacturing locations.

In this position you will work collaboratively with global production and engineering teams to develop and implement high volume machining manufacturing solutions that utilize automation and gauging systems, lead new and optimize existing machining processes, reduce manufacturing costs, and support new product development programs. You will research and monitor advanced manufacturing technology trends and appropriately integrate proven technology solutions into our regional manufacturing facilities.

As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

  • Support New Product Development and production launch readiness for machined components.

  • Identify critical product characteristics and technical feasibility of new products to establish manufacturing investment and production cost impacts.

  • Create and modify CNC programs to manufacture products to specified dimensions and tolerances, leveraging digital simulation and best practices to optimize quality and productivity.

  • Engage in strategic capital investment projects to specify, procure, and implement new manufacturing equipment, work holding, tooling, and gauging systems.

  • Utilize digital technologies to develop manufacturing component designs and support CNC machine simulations to validate layouts, functional performance, and production output rates.

  • Apply lean principles and utilize lean tools to improve efficiency and reduce waste in processes that align with manufacturing strategies.

  • Provide project and status updates to colleagues and leadership. Help drive innovation and implementation of advanced manufacturing technology.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field; or an associate's degree with equivalent work experience would also be considered

  • 1 - 3 years of applicable experience

  • Demonstrated competence and experience with modern machining system technologies and processes ensuring the production of exceptional final products

  • CNC machine programming knowledge and experience with turning and milling processes

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings with an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to meet design intent and functional requirements of a product.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to producing excellent work

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong understanding and ability to apply quality and lean tools such as Process Capability, Statistical Analysis, Structured Problem-Solving, PFMEA's, and Gauge R&R's

  • Experience working with 3D CAD software (examples: NX, SolidWorks, Inventor).

  • Ability to travel up to ~15%.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided with this position.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering, or related engineering field, with 5 or more years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge and experience machining cast iron.

  • Knowledge and experience with highly automated manufacturing systems.

  • Experience programming and working with industrial robots.

  • Experience with Siemens NX 3D modeling.

  • Experience working with Teamcenter PLM software.

  • Formal Lean and SPC training or certification.

Onsite Work Arrangement:

This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.
