Job Summary
The Office of Admissions seeks a highly motivated and professional Graduate Assistant to support recruitment, outreach, and administrative operations. This role requires strong presentation, communication, and organizational skills, as the Graduate Assistant will engage directly with prospective students and families while also assisting with the coordination of office functions. The position serves as a key representative of the university and contributes to delivering a high-quality admissions experience.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging presentations to individuals and groups, including prospective students, families, and school partners;
  • Provide guided campus tours of both Main Campus and RiverPark Campus with a high level of professionalism and knowledge;
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of recruitment events and campus visit programs (some weekends required);
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments for group tours, coordinating calendars, submitting logistics requests when necessary;
  • Support admissions services, including responding to inquiries and assisting with application-related processes;
  • Serve as a front desk lead when needed by greeting visitors, addressing questions, and ensuring a positive guest experience;
  • Maintain office organization, cleanliness, and operational efficiency;
  • Assist with training and mentoring undergraduate student workers as appropriate;
  • Complete additional projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Enrollment in a graduate program at Columbus State University;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation experience;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • Customer service-oriented with a professional and approachable demeanor;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to handle confidential information responsibly.
